New Aggreko Power Solutions Help Contractors Transition to Clean Energy

The company's new Greener Power Packages consist of tiered power systems that cater to specific energy requirements and demands of equipment on jobsites.

Aggreko, a provider of mobile modular power, temperature control and energy solutions, has announced Greener Power Packages, a new way for customers to interact with Aggreko’s Greener Upgrades initiative in a simple, yet flexible and results-driven way.

Greener Power Packages bundle together the company's latest temporary power technologies and expert services to deliver tailor-made solutions for customers looking to increase operational performance while meeting clean energy goals. With these packages, it’s now easier than ever to satisfy off-grid or on-grid power needs using low-emissions Tier 4 generators, battery storage, alternative fuels, and/or electrical distribution systems.

Greener Power Packages

The new Greener Power Packages bring together several of Aggreko’s latest technologies in three collections. For off-grid power needs, the “Great” option includes Tier 4 Final diesel generators, “Greater” pairs these with Aggreko’s battery energy storage systems (BESS), and “Greatest” combines the generators, battery storage and alternative fuel options such as Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO). For on-grid power needs, the “Greatest” package involves an electrical distribution system designed and delivered based on specific load requirements.

Following the purchase of a fleet of Tier 4 Final generators last year, Aggreko’s Greener Power Packages include a range of low-emissions and low-noise solutions, with generators ranging from 25 kW to 1,200 kW. Compared to traditional generators, these systems comply with the most stringent EPA requirements for diesel engines, achieving a 98% reduction in the volume of particulates and a 96% reduction in NOx emissions.

For off-grid applications, the package offerings can also be expanded and combined with battery energy storage systems and alternative fuels to enhance emissions reduction and reliability. Aggreko’s plug-and-play batteries can be integrated with an existing power system, providing maximum flexibility and control over how much power is generated and used.

Supporting Services

As a part of the company’s commitment to delivering ideal solutions and unlocking new levels of value for customers the Greener Power Packages incorporate expert services such as load on demand, remote monitoring and fuel management services that enhance the benefits provided in terms of emissions reduction, reliability, fuel cost savings, operational efficiency, and fuel optimization. Aggreko’s load-on-demand approach to designing solutions replaces a large, constantly operating generator with a group of smaller generators that can power up or down according to demand.

The Green Power Packages offer Remote Monitoring Services (ARM), transmitting real-time data directly from the equipment – allowing Aggreko to anticipate, diagnose and solve problems. Should an issue arise, customers are notified of any critical performance alarms and contacted immediately by Aggreko’s 24/7 Remote Operations Center, a team of skilled technical specialists ready to diagnose, respond and remotely fix issues to ensure dependability and uptime.

Additionally, with Aggreko’s all-inclusive fuel and DEF management service eliminates the burden associated with planning fuel deliveries, including Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) for Tier 4 Final generators.

“The launch of our Greener Power Packages reflects our commitment to innovation by providing our customers with more efficient, cost-effective and low-emissions power”,” said Stephen Saal, vice president of sales and marketing of Aggreko North America.

“We look forward to continuing to serve as an attentive partner for our customers, and to providing tailor-made solutions with the latest technologies to help drive optimal results and meet their clean energy goals.”

IRONPROS Perspective

The power needs of construction sites differ greatly, depending on the selection of equipment, size of operations and budget of the project. Aggreko’s Greener Power Packages address these challenges by offering custom temporary power solutions.

Starting with the entry-level Great package, this bundle offers Tier 4 Final diesel generators providing portable power on remote jobsites with limited access to electrical infrastructure. Projects with continuous access to low-cost diesel fuel and don’t have access to local, grid power would opt for this package to meet their clean energy goals.

The Greater package is the next step up, allowing contractors to benefit from a combination of Tier 4 final diesel generators and a battery energy storage system. Designed to help businesses transition to emission-free power with minimal risks, the battery system serves as the primary source of power while the diesel generators are only activated when batteries run low or need to be charged.

Very remote construction sites would have a difficult time managing the batteries, as they need to be charged when depleted. This solution is for contractors who want to reduce their reliance on diesel fuel and emissions.

Lastly, the Greatest package is suitable for businesses heavily prioritizing the use of clean energy on jobsites or have aggressive emissions targets. This bundle includes a combination of Tier 4 final generators, battery storage system and clean fuels, including HVO biodiesel. The solution enables the use of grid power and is supported by electrical distribution equipment to allocate power as needed.

This package is for large construction projects with high power demands, including fleets of electric vehicles and battery-powered machines.
