More than one-third of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) contractor members surveyed use drones, according to a new ABC Drone Usage report.
The survey found that 36.1% of respondents fly drones, with the most common uses being site progress monitoring (80.8%), marketing and media (77.5%) and inspections and mapping (50%).
Investment varies among contractors, but 62% reported spending between $1,000 and $10,000 on drones. DJI was the primary drone manufacturer for 97.1% of respondents.
Regulatory and compliance issues were the most commonly cited barrier to adoption, followed by training and staffing and limited use cases.
