Hitachi Construction Machinery Americas has announced it will expand its North American equipment lineup with three articulated dump trucks (ADTs) through a collaboration with Bell Equipment, a global original equipment manufacturer (OEM) that designs and manufactures products for the mining, construction, and other material handling industries.

Models ZD30, ZD45 and ZD50 (30 tons to 50 tons) are scheduled to launch in early summer of 2027 and soon followed by additional offerings from 20 tons to 60 tons. The lineup will be supported by Hitachi's dealer network across the United States and Canada and positions Hitachi to compete in the equipment classes that account for approximately 90% of the North American ADT market.

According to Hitachi leadership, the launch marks an important step in the company's strategy to expand equipment offerings and strengthen its position in the North American market under its new brand identity, LANDCROS. As the company moves toward its April 2027 LANDCROS transition, it is taking strategic steps to increase its footprint and build out its equipment lineup.

With over 26 years of experience in the North American ADT market, Bell Equipment offers established product development, manufacturing and aftermarket support. Bell technical specialists will also support the North American rollout.

Key features of the ZD30, ZD45 and ZD50 models include:

Power and durability

  • The class-leading engine output and torque performance handle demanding haul cycles.
  • Articulation joints are designed specifically for high-load applications. They use high tensile steel and widely spaced tapered roller bearings for added strength.

Standard safety technology

  • On-Board Weighing shows the operator the load in real time during loading.
  • Bin Tip Prevention monitors the rear chassis angle during dumping. If the angle is too great, increasing the risk of a rollover, a warning displays on the monitor and automatically stops the bed from rising.
  • Geofencing works through the fleet management system. It can block entry into restricted areas, set speed limits by zone, mark dump-prohibited areas, and help prevent theft.

Serviceability

  • A 10-inch color monitor displays operating status, safety warnings, and troubleshooting information, and gives the operator access to vehicle function settings.
  • Grease nipples are centralized and can be reached from ground level, which makes routine maintenance faster.
