Diamond Mowers has introduced its latest mulching attachment, the Drum Mulcher Pro X2, developed in collaboration with mulching contractors and land management professionals. Available in open drum (OD) and depth control (DC) configurations, the new model is designed for improved efficiency, operator control and long-term durability.
Designed with Input from the Field
According to the company, the Pro X2’s design reflects feedback from experienced operators in the field. Modifications include changes to sightlines, stability and infeed geometry aimed at improving performance and safety during extended use in rugged environments.
“The Pro X2 is a direct result of field testing and operator feedback,” said Nate Cleveringa, vice president of engineering and product management at Diamond Mowers. “We focused on addressing real-world challenges to improve usability and performance.”

Tooth Technology and Cost of Ownership
Diamond Mowers says the Drum Mulcher Pro X2 offers a lower cost of ownership over time, particularly when paired with the company’s updated mulching teeth. The DC version comes with Edge™ Hardened Steel Teeth, designed to process more material in a single pass. The OD version uses Twin Maul™ Carbide Teeth, which are suited for ground-heavy engagement and tougher terrain.
Some users, like Ken Foster of Foster’s Forestry Mulching & Excavation, reported increased productivity. “It’s got more suction than the previous model, and the chipper teeth hold up well,” he said.
The attachment is also compatible with a combination of tooth types for balancing cutting performance and wear resistance. In tandem with the launch, Diamond introduced reduced pricing for replacement teeth, aiming to make maintenance more affordable.
Visibility and Operator Control
Several updates aim to improve visibility and operator precision. A reworked chassis design improves weight distribution by positioning key components closer to the carrier. Motor cover height has been lowered, and hydraulic hose routing was adjusted to reduce snagging and improve operator sightlines.
Operators can select from multiple hose lengths based on their machine setup—an upgrade over standard one-size-fits-all lengths.
Optional Features for Specialized Needs
The Drum Mulcher Pro X2 can be customized with a number of optional add-ons, including:
- Upgraded brake system that stops the rotor in under 10 seconds after shutoff
- Hydraulic trap door for directional control of debris, useful in residential or regulated areas
- Built-in pressure gauge for real-time performance monitoring
These features can be factory-installed or added later as retrofits.
Operator-Focused Details
Additional design updates include:
- 60- and 72-inch cutting widths, capable of processing material up to 9 inches in diameter
- A redesigned push bar with serrated edges for improved material handling
- Optimized infeed for smoother chip production
- Integrated storage for tools and accessories
- Treaded drum access points to improve safety during ingress/egress
Easier Maintenance and Servicing
Serviceability improvements allow for quicker component access, simplified cleaning and reduced downtime. Drums on both DC and OD models can be removed without detaching the shaft, and standard fasteners across teeth and covers mean only one tool is required for most maintenance tasks.
David Buehler of Bobcat of Atlanta noted the convenience: “The trap door and toolbox are useful additions, and having just one tool for maintenance really simplifies things.”

The Drum Mulcher Pro X2 is available now through Diamond Mowers’ dealer network. Optional features, tooth configurations and hose lengths can be selected at purchase or retrofitted in the field as needs evolve.
