Makita U.S.A., Inc. has announced the launch of its 40V max XGT Motor Unit, an electric, drop-in alternative designed to match the performance of 25cc to 50cc gas engines. The motor is intended for original equipment manufacturers looking to electrify commercial equipment without redesigning products from the ground up.
The motor unit is designed for use in applications such as power screeds, backpack vibrators, power trowels, winches and water pumps. It features a universal mounting pattern, configurable operating settings and support for multiple drive types, allowing it to integrate into a range of equipment designs. The unit also carries an IPX5 rating for use in demanding jobsite environments.
Makita said the motor is powered by its existing 40V max XGT battery platform, which supports more than 170 tools and equipment. The company plans to launch the motor unit in North America in summer 2026, with additional markets to follow based on demand and OEM adoption.
