Motive introduced Beacon, a compact tracking device designed to help companies locate small equipment and containers that are often difficult to track with traditional GPS systems.

The device works through the Motive Mesh Network, which uses nearby Motive vehicle gateways and mobile apps to detect Beacon devices via Bluetooth and report their last known location.

The system is intended for industries such as construction, logistics, utilities and field services, where tools and smaller assets frequently move between jobsites, warehouses and vehicles.

According to the company, the platform allows operations managers to track equipment alongside vehicles and drivers within the Motive dashboard. The system can also send alerts when equipment leaves designated areas or is moved by the wrong vehicle.

The Beacon device features a compact, waterproof design with flexible mounting options and a replaceable battery designed to last up to four years.
