Cortec Corporation has introduced MCI-2018 X V/O, a 100% silane water repellent designed for vertical and overhead concrete surfaces.
The new product is intended to help contractors protect concrete structures from water and chloride intrusion while reducing runoff and dripping during application. According to the company, the material is designed for use on structures such as bridges, tunnels, parking garages, piers and commercial buildings.
MCI-2018 X V/O can be used on its own or alongside surface-applied corrosion inhibitors as part of a broader concrete protection strategy. Cortec said the product creates a hydrophobic barrier within the concrete while maintaining breathability.
The water repellent is applied using conventional spray equipment and is formulated for vertical and overhead surfaces that can be difficult to treat with traditional sealers. The company said the product is designed to support routine maintenance and concrete repair projects aimed at extending service life and reducing corrosion-related damage.
