Electric equipment and machines are used for many different things and in many different settings. While electric equipment can be used just about anywhere, there are places where its use is more suitable. Electric machines can have many benefits to workers and those in the area around the worksite. Electric equipment is often a go-to when it comes to areas that are small, enclosed, or lived in due to the quieter and lack of exhaust. Some spaces that might be best for electric machines include indoor areas, residential areas, hospitals, and during night projects.

Something to be aware of when deciding to use electric equipment on your jobsite are the environmental factors. Electric machines won’t work as well if they are in environments that are heavily humid or in extreme temperatures, for example.

Electric machines can be the perfect solution if you are working in certain kinds of worksites. Here are the top five worksites to use electric equipment and machines.

Consider First

Even though electric machines can technically be used just about anywhere, there are a few components that can negatively affect the machinery. Other factors can change your decision as well such as the timeframe and extent of use in an environment even if it is less suitable than others.

These are some of the key environmental factors that you should consider when selecting equipment:

  • Heat Level

  • Humidity Level

  • Altitude

  • Ventilation

These various factors have the potential to damage electric equipment motors. If it is too hot or too cold, the machine may not be able to run as easily and will have to try harder. Similarly, the amount of moisture in the air can cause disruption to the machine and wear it down, depending on the amount of time that the equipment will be staying in that environment.

1. Indoor Areas

Indoor areas are particularly susceptible to noise and air pollution due to the closed-in state of the environment. There are a lot of diesel-run equipment that are unable to work indoors for many different reasons. The three main reasons are:

  • Sound pollution

  • Emissions

  • Vibrations

Electric machines have diesel machines beat with their zero emissions and reduced sound. Electric equipment is a great option when working indoors. Part of the sound problem with diesel machines is the amount of vibration that they create when being operated. With electric machines, there are significantly lower levels of vibration. Using electric equipment in indoor settings is a great option, and it is one of the top five worksites for electric equipment use.

2. Residential Areas

Similar to indoor areas, residential areas have to be careful of sound, exhaust, and vibrations. It is extremely important in residential areas to be conscious of the people who live in and around the worksite. Since it is unavoidable that work will be done in lived-in areas, like a residential setting, having the most efficient and non-invasive ways of completing construction jobs is crucial.

Not only do the residents in the area appreciate a less overwhelming construction environment but the person or people that hired you for the job will be very appreciative. Their job is to keep surrounding residents happy and would, of course, welcome the opportunity to receive fewer complaints during what is often a disruptive time for those who live nearby.

3. Hospitals

Just as the residential and indoor areas need less emissions and less noise, doing construction in a hospital has to be as peaceful as possible. Working in a hospital is no easy feat to begin with. If you add on lots of noise, vibration, and exhaust, working in a hospital just gets even more challenging. Nurses, doctors, and all other employees in the hospital need to be able to think as clearly as possible to do their jobs comprehensively. Electric equipment is the solution.

Not only do the workers need less disturbance, but the patients need it too. Patients in a hospital are often injured, sick, or in a generally vulnerable state during their stay. No hospital wants to add stress to their patients but sometimes, construction is inevitable. Using electric machines can significantly reduce the overall disruption caused by construction.

4. Night Projects

When working anywhere at night, there is one major thing that construction companies strive for - don’t make noise. Night work is an interesting part of construction. Work in high-traffic areas often can’t be done during the most popular times of day and this usually leaves night hours for work crews to do their job. This is frequently seen when construction is needed on highways.

Since the world is typically sleeping at night, it is important to keep things as quiet as possible. Electric machines make that more feasible. With less sound and less vibration, electric equipment is very ideal for night projects.

5. Zoos

Everyone who has been to a zoo knows that construction projects are frequent. This can be due to expansion, habitat changes, evolving needs, and more. But animals are far more sensitive to sound and vibration. With that in mind, zoos are a major area that need electric machines so that the animals inhabiting the place are not put under additional stress.

The point of a zoo is to preserve and protect animals that are not safe in their natural habitat. Zoo executives work hard to make the habitats as close to the ones they would exist in best in the wild. Adding foreign noises and vibrations will only cause anxiety for the life living at the zoo.

Top 5 Worksites

These five worksites are some of the most susceptible to sound and emission pollution. Therefore, they are some of the best places to use electric machines and equipment. If you are looking to work in any of these conditions or you think quieter machines with no emissions and less vibration would suit your worksite, electric equipment is a great option for you. You should do your own research and if you need additional support, you can talk to a trusted equipment expert and get advice specific to you.
