Caterpillar has introduced two new energy control systems — the ECS 300 and ECS 400 — designed to help manage on-site power generation more efficiently as energy demands and grid conditions continue to shift.

Flexible Energy Management for Diverse Setups
The ECS 300 is suited for facilities managing up to four power generation assets, with or without a connection to the utility grid. It supports utility paralleling and enables operators to optimize when and how different energy sources are used. This includes taking advantage of on-site generation during peak hours or switching to backup power during outages.

For larger or more complex systems, the ECS 400 offers management of up to 32 energy assets, making it a fit for advanced microgrid configurations. This controller is built to support a mix of power sources — including renewable energy — and to help reduce fuel use and operating costs by improving overall energy coordination.

Scalable Solutions for Long-Term Planning
As energy strategies become more complex, tools that provide flexibility and long-term scalability are becoming essential. Caterpillar’s expanded ECS lineup supports this need by allowing organizations to gradually scale up their power management systems as new assets come online or needs evolve.

Integrated System Support
In addition to controllers, Caterpillar’s energy solutions include hardware such as generator sets and battery storage, as well as supporting technology like distributed energy resource management systems (DERMS) and remote monitoring tools. The systems are available now, with retrofit kits for earlier ECS models and options for custom system design.

These additions join Caterpillar’s existing ECS 100 and ECS 200 products, providing a broader range of control options for both new installations and upgrades.
